A Question About An Accent?

As a native speaker of English, I know many will disagree with me, but I think accents are colorful and beautiful. They sound more authentic. However, to foreign speakers, it may be somewhat annoying because they find it hard to understand. I speak German, but Swiss or Bavarian Germans are very hard to understand even when they speak slowly with their dialect. And having to ask someone to repeat every sentence three or four times is very annoying.

I've been dating a man exclusively for 7 months, and he's referred to me as his "girlfriend" on several occassions. The other night, we met a new person, (who I felt was hitting on me), and I ran over to my date, so this guy would KNOW I was with someone. He followed me, and said to my date, "is this your wife?" Recently there has been a lot of death around me. Since then every show that comes on tv has some to do with death in it or all the songs I hear have to do with death. So, I've always wanted to be a surgeon as long as i can remember. But recently, as I've been approaching the time when I'll be applying to colleges and stuff, I've kind of been having second thoughts... Aliens or time travelers?

So, there are all these theories out there about how ancient cultures accomplished so much with such simple technology without ever having contact with one another (think Egyptian and Incan temples). One rapidly developing theory is that an alien race visited these ancient cultures and provided them with the tools/technology necessary. This theory has risen due to the fact that the structures these cultures erected could not have been possible for them to create on their own with their simple tools, but rather needed more sophisticated machinery that would be like slightly more advanced versions of modern day equipment. So my question is this: rather than 'ancient aliens' having visited these cultures, what if it was merely a group of humans that had perfected the science of time travel and gone back in time? With the seemingly limitless possibilities in modern science, wouldn't that be possible? I feel like our descendants would have more desire to interact with their ancestors than would a race of alien beings that have no connection to us whatsoever. What's your theory?

The guy going fast hears himself the same. Time is slowed, but he can't realize time has slowed without looking to the outside world. I am heading to the north (Chalatenango) already on this trip, and I already know San Salvador and La Libertad area. Recently there has been a lot of death around me. Since then every show that comes on tv has some to do with death in it or all the songs I hear have to do with death. A couple days a go I went out with my family and all of a sudden we drive by the cemetery my sisters friend was buried at then the next day we go to my brother football game and my dad goes a different way which happens to be pass the place his friend was killed at then one of his friends that was killed in a car accident on April the 28 and was buried at the same cemetery as my great grandma I keep seeing that 28 number everywhere. All of a sudden I was walking past my sisters room and she had her friends obituary hanging up and she died on the 29 of June in a car accident then last Saturday we go to b-more and while there we pass to cars with in loving memory banners on there car. When I'm out all I see is funeral homes and different things pertaining to death. What is wrong with me are the signs my time is coming I'm only 18 and this will not leave me alone I'm so scared I have been having panic and anxiety attacks back to back. for example i was just watching a wedding show and the couple met at a funeral im so scared somebody please help me this is taking over my life my left arm and hand has been numb and tingling for two weeks I had blood work done they said everything is normal now my chest and back are having muscle spasms or sharp pains what is going on? If you were the manager of the Yankees is Phil Hughes a starter or reliever?

We know that the Yankees want Hughes as a starter, but if I were the manager I would put him in the bullpen. Hughes may win games, but stuff wise I think he projects as a career middle of the rotation pitcher. I mean Hughes has proved to be better as a reliever and has blown away hitters with 95 mph fastballs. Whereas Hughes as a starter cannot put hitters away and lives mostly in the 91-93 range. Hughes tends to get exposed in my opinion going through a lineup a second time because he has trouble throwing his secondary stuff for strikes. What do you think?

My yearling (horse) bites and kicks!?

Your yearling sounds exactly like mine did. He is a rescue and had very bad manners. It was to the point that we could not even go into the pasture. One time he reared up and came down on my husbands shoulders and nearly killed him. In January one of my horses coliced. When the vet came out to see him, Rocket was up to his old trick. He was really showing out. So when he took my colicky horse to his hospital, I sent Rocket along too thinking that gelding him would do the trick. WRONG! So I went to my local coop and ask this lady that worked there if she knew of someone who could take him and teach him some manners that wouldn't break me. That afternoon a young man called and told me that not only was he a trainer, but also a farrier. Rocket's feet looked horrible and he refused to stand for the farrier. So I let this young man take him to his farm for three weeks. He worked with him every day and when he brought him home, I thought it was someone else's horse. He is now very calm, stands for the farrier, no longer bites or kicks. I have had a life-long affiliation with horses, but to this day I don't know how to get them to behave, at least with situations such as this one. I strongly suggest you find someoone who has experience with yearlings and send him for some lessons in good manners. Believe me, you will never be sorry for doing this, you will be very thankful. I want a little insight as to where on the baseball radar game backstop to throw a fast pitch. It is not the guessing one, but one where you throw as fast as you can. Why did my dog do this when she died?

This incident happened over 10 years ago but it has been on my mind forever and i want to know from others what to think of it. I loved my old pet Scamper, her life is done today and i miss her dearly, but the night she died over 10 years ago she did something i to this day do not know why she did. The night that she died, we knew she wasn't well because the vet said that she would pass soon, the night that she passed she came to my bedroom door and lied down and died. She was an old mix (small-medium size) who i raised from puppyhood, her life was one of rich memory and many incidents, from car accidents, to being sprayed with a skunk to even protecting us. I don't want to make this into a long obituary about my pets life, but i loved her dearly and i would like to get closure. Do you think she did this because she wanted to be close by? Did she do this for a reason? I've heard dogs go away to die so it seemed odd that she came close. Also in her life she never chewed, bite or barked but that night she chewed through her leash and came upstairs and lied down by my bedroom door and died... Do dogs actually think? Its been bugging me as this would seem to take thinking, and also do dogs know when they are going to die? Ex girlfriend in love with dead friend still?

I dated this girl for a short time. We broke up from something completely unrelated (not a fight or bad) to decide to be friends for a little bit. She still liked me, and I still liked her. I'm not going to share details. Anyway I was the first guy she was more intimate with. Her previous boyfriend felt more like a friend to her. A few months later she's really upset. She tells me she finally looked up a friend's name in an obituary. A friend who had a huge crush on her I guess and she had known for a long time. (probably 7+ years) She's 21 now. He had gotten brain cancer, and the emails they exchanged had stopped coming in for a couple years, so she knew he was probably dead, but didn't have the guts to look up his name. So when she did, she was saying she'll never be able to love anyone and she wants to be with him, and she wished she could have told him she loved him back. (which I guess she never did) It makes me question the whole thing, although it's not good to confront her. Because if she had really liked him back at that time, wouldn't she have said it? Is it guilt and the loss of a friend? Or did she truly love him that whole time and just never said it? I've only known her for a year, so I can't compare with all the memories they probably had. She pretends she's okay around everyone, but she's the shell of her former self. She's uncaring and monotone acting 95% of the time. I rarely see her excited or happy anymore. It's been about 4 months since the obituary thing. Although she works and goes to school, I feel as though she's just going through the motions. I love her and I care about her. I want to see her happy. I suggested she look into support groups or maybe some counseling targeted towards grief coping. I know she's not handling this in a very unhealthy way. I can understand not wanting to take other people's advice who care, because I used to be the same way. The only response I get from this is 'Therapy can't bring him back. It can't make me not sad'. Because she's stuck on 'I can't be happy if he's not alive'. Although before the orbituary thing, she was a different person. Happy, caring, very likeable. Perhaps she was pushing off mourning. I myself have gone through a situation where there's something that depresses me and I can't change, nor anyone else. And I've had to cope. At first I didn't want to live anymore for a long time. I had decided that if that thing couldn't be changed, I wouldn't be happy. And no one could help me. But after living more, and going through counseling, finding happiness in other things, I finally can say I'm happy to be alive, and I want to live my life to it's proper end. I just wonder what I'm supposed to do for her. Can someone heal on their own, without therapy, and only support of 1 person? I can't make her do anything, and I can't change a person. Please give me advice.

How do you report a motel to the health department? I recently stayed at a place that was advertised online and looked so much better there than it actually was. The place was falling apart, had spiders, flies, the AC didn't work and worst of all it had bed bugs. The floor had a hole in it, the building literally moved under your feet and the shower to the wall caved in if you touched it. Definitely a health hazard especially with the bed bugs. So how can I report this place and possibly get my money back? I'd rather just report them and save another traveler from having to go through the same thing I did. Thanks!

I need help with my dad making me do martial arts?

i've been doing korean martial arts for six years and i just received my black belt (cho dan) with months of hard work. he's basically been forcing me to go for the past years, he even did martial arts after me, hes now been doing it for four years. we've discussed this before but he just hates the idea that i don't want to do it anymore or even that i just want to do it less. it makes me so angry and sad that this art takes up most of my during school days to do other things like maybe do homework at decent time. as a matter of fact i want to learn other martial arts even. at my studio we do lot and lot of forms and robotic defensive techniques and knife defenses where they attempt to strike you with one technique and stop for you so you can do whatever you want to them. i've sparred with my friends who have minimal training and lose. dad tells me that when i become a dan i start to realize the applications of forms but does it seriously take 6 years of training to learn how to defend yourselves. i know you have to imagine opponents but it comes nothing close to the real thing. i want to become the worlds best martial artist but i think i need far more diversity of skills. we live far from our dojang so as soon as we get home from school i have to get ready and leave. my dads just an angry guy, idk i guess i have no choice but to be a shrimp and just give up my dreams and have no skills in combat but i would really appreciate it if my problem can be solved some how.

You should definitely see the old town's of Tallinn,Vilnius and Riga. Riga is a better choice as there are much more tourist attractions like the occupation museum which is a must see. Generally just walk around the old town and you will be pleased. In latvia there are nice beaches in Jurmala, which is sea resort in latvia. There is long term parking at the airport, but we always park at the Payless Car Rental lot. they have a shuttle, but leave time to get to the airport as sometimes there is a wait between shuttles and you don't want to worry about your flight. A friend of mine passed away...?

He was a really great, positive and friendly guy, always had a smile on his face. I met him over the course of a couple months in the summer, and have not talked to him since late August. He died on Wednesday last week. I haven't been able to find out anything on his death, no news, no obituary. Why do I want to know? should it not be enough to accept that he is no longer on this earth in human form? That was an excellent observation and great research that you uncovered about the movie. After it came out, I did the same thing. Now, the reason so many people think it's real is because the actors themselves break the 4th wall, which is a big no-no in the film industry, and actually tell the audience that the film they are about to see is actual footage and is indeed all fact. Plus, when any movie has "actual footage" anyone is bound to believe it. And yes, all the stories about missing people is true but that doesn't necessarily mean alien abduction. I do know that there was a significance about the owl that the victims see, but from real reports, the victim doesn't see the owl until after abduction. If you want to see a movie inspired, not based, by true events I would highly recommend you watch Fire in the Sky or a couple of X- Files, which are inspired by real x-files. Hope this helped. Your friend does sound as though she has changed a lot. However, the thing is if she does not or cannot acknowledge she has a problem, then no one will be able to help her. She has to be willing to reach out for help. You sound like you are being a good friend that cares for her very much, but there are somethings that you cannot do for your friends. I know because, my best friend has depression and health problems and we have been friends for 40 years. No matter how much I try to get her to go out to do stuff together she always refuses by making excuses why she can't. Therefore, the best thing to do is be there for her by giving support. In my opinion, it could be that she has been lured into a church that can do things like that to a person or the stress has triggered a disorder that she has had all along and it has finally been revealed. Explain to your mom that going to school today would have been a waste of everyone's time; none of your teachers were there, and you could just as easily have read a book at home. Don't lie, just have your mom write the letter saying you didn't go in because of the strike. If you get in trouble, bring your parents in and have them talk to whoever is punishing you. If that doesn't work, suck it up and serve your detention or whatever just to placate the school. Honestly, I would've done the same thing if most of my teachers were striking or otherwise off-campus; at that point, all the school is doing is just large-scale babysitting.

I was in a car crash on Memorial Day of 2009 with my two friends Victor and Fredi. Fredi made an illegal U-turn into a driveway, and failed to use a turn signal. A man on a motorcycle was approaching us just as we were turning and he slammed into the side of our car. The man later died. I have always felt guilt about this incident, even though I wasn't the one driving the car. I have always thought,"If I hadn't asked them to give me a ride, this would have never happened." and things like that. Im a 23 year old female. I joined the army and during week 4 of training while i was in the gas chamber i was struck in the chest multiple times by the drill sgts. For the following next few days i went to sick call and complained of chest pains pressure the whole shebang. Anyhowm everytime i went they gave me medicine for allergies because apparently fort jackson is known for pollen. So one night i could no longer bare it i was on the floor screaming in pain and buzzing the drill sgts with no answer. I set off the alarms and ran downstairs banging on the ds door and he came out cursing and yelling. He eventually brought me to the hospital and i sat in a chair for 11 hrs before a doctor even saw me. he again prescribed ibuprofen and clairitin and i begged for bloodwork. he agreed, withing 45 minutes i was in an ambulance off post where i stayed for 5 days. I had damage consistent with a heartattack and a cardiac contusion (bruise on my heart) myocarditis. I also had Supraventricular tachycardias while i was in the hospital. So when i was discharged the army sent me home on 30 days con leave. When i got back my company was about to graduating i was forced to do everything with them although i wasnt feeling up to it and i was not training. i had to do shitty details but nothing compared to when we got switched over to the holdover company. We were in the scorching heat painting sweeping the concrete policing the hills it was ridiculous from sun up to sun down we were working. One day i had BAD chest pain so i went to sick call. Although i was on a dead mans profile and although i was awaiting a discharge and i told her of my pains and previous history she took me off profile and sent me on my way with an icepack and ibuprofen. when i got back to the company i snapped, i put on my civilians and took off running. Ive now been home for almost 45 days. Im scared to go back because i dont want jailtime, what should i do?

Recently there has been a lot of death around me. Since then every show that comes on tv has some to do with death in it or all the songs I hear have to do with death. A couple days a go I went out with my family and all of a sudden we drive by the cemetery my sisters friend was buried at then the next day we go to my brother football game and my dad goes a different way which happens to be pass the place his friend was killed at then one of his friends that was killed in a car accident on April the 28 and was buried at the same cemetery as my great grandma I keep seeing that 28 number everywhere. All of a sudden I was walking past my sisters room and she had her friends obituary hanging up and she died on the 29 of June in a car accident then last Saturday we go to bmore and while there we pass to cars with in loving memory banners on there car. When I'm out all I see is funeral homes and different things pertaining to death. What is wrong with me are the signs my time is coming I'm only 18 and this will not leave me alone I'm so scared I have been having panic and anxiety attacks back to back.

You might find an airline line that will allow more luggage, but you will have to pay for the extra weight. Can't you just buy some new stuff when you get settled in over there (like for winter)? Keep ALL your valuables with you and don't lock your suitcases. The douane (customs) are going to break the locks (they did this to me !) if they want to do a hand search of your luggage. And they might even after they X-ray it.

I just had to take a few days off of school because my Uncle passed away and I wanted to see him before he went on to the other side. I notified all of my professors and all of them cleared me except for one who requested documentation. This doesn't really sound like a Southern accent--I live just about as north as you can get but I've read Huck Finn, seen Andy Griffith, and had all sorts of exposure to the dialect. If you're Southern, then maybe you know better than me, but this doesn't flow. While being purposely grammatically incorrect you're also writing things like "pause and ponder."
