Is there any way to save the data on my flash drive?

so, i have a 4GB data traveler flash drive that i saved a bunch of files from my old laptop onto. then, when i tried to transfer them over to my computer, the computer says it's not formatted, and if i don't format it, then i can't get any of the data off. but if i format it, then all the data will be erased. is there any way i can get the data off without formatting the flash drive?
